The Prayer Shawl Ministry of Resurrection Parish is modeled after the Shawl Ministry and first pattern, developed and written by Victoria Galo and Janet Bristow. It is a spiritual practice of group prayer before beginning to create Shawls the are knitted or crocheted. Prayers continue in blessing for our hands, the needles and crochet hooks, the yarn and patterns.
Blessings are said for the receiver. Each completed shawl is held and prayed over by each member of the group. Shawls are given to those suffering any illness, those facing surgery and comfort for care givers, for those who grieve and are mourning.
Shawls are also made for special occasions.
There are many prayers for each occasion a Prayer Shawl is given.
When we can gather again, we meet in the Resource Room on the second Wednesday of the month from 2pm to 4pm. Yarn, needles, hooks and patterns are provided or you can bring your own.
You are welcome to work at home and bring your completed shawls to church during weekly business hours. For any questions or assistance, please call Cindy Novak at [email protected] 973-219-0919
