MINISTRY TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND

Pastoral Care Phone: 973-895-4888

If you have a loved one who cannot get out to Mass and would like to receive Communion, please call the Pastoral Care phone number above to arrange a visit for them. Our Priests are available to bring the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Sick to those who would like to receive them.

We are available to sit with you, listen to you, and help you with the many situations that come up when tending to the care of a loved one who is homebound.

When we were little, we asked our parents for many things. We expected that all we had to do was ask and they were ours. But often, we were told no. We had to accept that reality and go on. Sometimes it was a blessing that we did not get what we asked for. Other times we were so disappointed and had to learn to do without. We were told it was not the best thing for us. I believe our prayers to God, in Jesus’ Name and by the power of the Holy Spirit are not always answered the way we anticipate. Sometimes we are told no. We didn’t leave our parents because we didn’t get our way. Why do we turn away from God when He says no? He is always with us, in good times and bad, in happy times and sad, in yes times and in no.

Our faith tells us God is the infinite giver and because He loves us He gives us what we need and what will be good for our immortal souls. That sometimes means we experience pain, but He is there to hold us in the midst of that pain. And He will help us through the disappointments and show us the better way. We shortchange ourselves when we don’t keep the Lord in our whole lives. Give glory and praise to Him every day!

God bless.                                                               Cindy Novak
